Frontier Centre for Public Policy - Appointment Announcement

Peter Holle, President of the Frontier Centre for Public Policy is pleased to announce the appointment of Elmira Aliakbari. Aliakbari joins an exceptional team tasked with continuing the important work researching and analyzing the role of government, market and economic policy.

President Holle states, "on behalf of the incredible team at Frontier, we are thrilled to have Ms. Aliakbari join our team of world-class researchers. We know her work in environmental and energy policy will be a welcome addition to our research program and to the Frontier Centre's core mission to strengthen minds, elevate discourse, mentor youth and bring the leading minds of the world to bear on problems that matter most."

Dr. Ross McKitrick, incoming Chair of Energy, Ecology & Prosperity describes Ms. Aliakbari as "a very talented young economist who brings to the team strong technical skills and a keen interest in Canadian energy and environmental policy. I am thrilled that she is joining the Frontier Centre and I look forward to working with her."

Ms. Aliakbari is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Economics at University of Guelph in the final year of her doctoral program. She obtained a bachelor's degree in Economics and a master of arts in Environmental Economics from the University of Tehran in Iran. Her research interests are in Energy Economics, Environmental Economics and Applied Econometrics. Her work focuses on the relationship between energy consumption and economic growth in Canada, and on innovative approaches to climate policy.
